My Story

So, I'm in my 40's and I'm overweight. Some would say Obese. Over the past few years I have had several surgeries do to a very bad disease called Endometriosis and it resulted in a complete hysterectomy in 2001, things went wrong during this surgery, which resulted in another "corrective" surgery in 2002. So, guess you could say I'm an obese forty something year old woman who has went through menopause (medically induced).

After nerves to my leg were cut I was put on some medications for the seizures it developed and three days later woke up blind (a side affect of the medication). That's right, I said BLIND. So, this surgery that was suppose to better my quality of life, well....let's just say it didn't. Luckily surgery was done on both eyes and six months of multiple changes in glasses to result in learning what God's "Amazing Grace" truly was. I can tell you that this song has new meaning to me and will for the rest of my life. It was Gods grace that no permanent damage was done to my eyes.

However, with everything else going on, I suffered from major depression (which is now under control with medication) and still suffer with pelvic adhesive disease (with chronic pain from so much scar tissue). I blamed these set backs in my life for my weight, or maybe I should say used them to excuse myself from being healthy. Hard to believe I was once a very proud member of our armed forces and physically fit. It has taken me years to realize that the doctors were right.  All of this was necessary to "improve my quality of life" because this is where I found Christ. The healing has been slow, but it's coming.

With Christ, I WILL take my life back. Thank you for reading my blog.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

Catherin L. Taylor once said: "Permanent weight loss begins with the acknowledgement that you want more out of life. You must decide that you are deserving of more happiness, more joy and more peace. You want to return to the aliveness that you were born with".

  1. I will be watching and praying and hoping to do the same, take my life back through diet and exercise. My vita-mix was the first 5000 they made in '95 and I finally had to get a new blade for it and decided to just get a new medium container because the plastic doesn't leach that carcinogenic stuff. Can't wait to make that onion bread! Wishing you well. Tori
